How to Choose a Diamond Disc for Concrete and Reinforced Concrete

A diamond disc for concrete is selected by the material, the machine and the actual cut – not by price or appearance alone. This guide helps contractors and workshop users make a safe first selection for concrete and reinforced concrete.

Start with four checks

  • Material: identify whether the work is ordinary concrete, reinforced concrete, stone or an abrasive material.
  • Machine: use only a disc diameter and maximum RPM permitted by the machine manufacturer.
  • Diameter and bore: the disc must match the machine guard, spindle and bore. Do not modify the bore or fit a disc that the machine is not designed to accept.
  • Working method: follow the dry/wet-use instructions supplied for both the disc and the machine.

What changes with reinforced concrete?

For reinforced concrete, choose a disc whose product page is intended for concrete or reinforced-concrete work. Do not select a disc only by diameter, and do not use a concrete disc as a substitute for cutting exposed steel.

Choose the diameter for the machine

If the machine manual permits a 115 mm or 125 mm disc with a 22.2 mm bore, start with the PDT Turbo Concrete 115 mm or PDT Turbo Concrete 125 mm. For a machine rated for larger diameters, review the 180 mm and 230 mm Turbo Concrete options and confirm the permitted diameter, bore and RPM before purchase.

When to ask for help

Use the concrete and reinforced concrete category to compare available products. For a large saw, an uncommon bore, recurring heavy site work or an application that is not clear from the product page, send an RFQ with the machine model, required diameter, bore and material. We will check the appropriate PDT option before supply.

Safe working basics

  • Read the machine and disc instructions before use.
  • Use the machine guard and appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Inspect the disc before fitting it; do not use a damaged disc.
  • Never exceed the maximum RPM marked for the disc or force the cut.

Quick purchase checklist

Before placing an order, confirm the material, machine type, permitted disc diameter, bore, maximum RPM and whether the work is dry or wet. Then check the product availability shown in the catalog. In-stock items can be ordered online; specialist or made-to-order requirements should be sent through RFQ.
